Anycast DNS

anycastCatch our new series on Anycast DNS! We're providing a series of articles that demonstrate how Anycast works, its benefits, and how to deploy it using Static Routing, RIP v2, OSPF, and BGP. In our series we use the Open Source host-based routing software, Quagga, and provide detailed recipes on how to configure the various protocol engines.

ISC Bind

BIND 9.7.1-P2BIND 9.6.2-P2BIND 9.6-ESV-R2*BIND 9.5.2-P4BIND 9.4-ESV-R2*

Security Advisory Regarding: RRSIG query handling bug in BIND 9.7.1
Description: If a query is made explicitly for a record of type 'RRSIG' to a validating recursive server running BIND 9.7.1 or 9.7.1-P1, and the server has one or more trust anchors configured statically and/or via DLV, then if the answer is not already in cache, the server enters a loop which repeatedly generates queries for RRSIGs to the authoritative servers for the zone containing the queried name. This rarely occurs in normal operation, since RRSIGs are already included in responses to queries for the RR types they cover, when DNSSEC is enabled and the records exist. However, the potential for deliberate use of this bug must also be taken into account, which is why ISC is preparing a patch for distribution as soon as possible.
